Dog Walks make Everyone Feel Better

29th May 2012

I'm sure your home is the same as mine when it comes to dog walks. When you put on a certain pair of shoes and pick up your keys, dogs just seem to know their time is coming. When you make a move for the leash, it's all over...the doggie dance begins with great excitement in anticipation of what is to come. A dog walk is a simple activity, but it brings such good energy. A dog's tail wag speaks a thousand words and makes the day a bit brighter.

Dogs are ready to go when you say "let's go", but here are a few things to consider in preparation of your dog walks to make them fabulous for all. If it's a hot day make sure you have a source of water for your dog. Our handy pet water travel bowls/bottles are nice because they have a clip to slip on your belt or pants. You can slip them into a bag too without worrying about them leaking. Flip the bowl down and squeeze fresh water into the bowl when your dog needs it and store the rest for later. It's easy to forget how much hotter it is for your pet who is closer to the ground, which is reflecting heat up onto their belly and paws. Plus, there's less of a breeze at your dog's height, so make sure they are hydrated during your walk. They get so caught up in the moment, they don't realize they need to pause and refresh!

Chances are good your dog will "do some business" when you are on your dog walk, so please, please always be responsible and prepared! Our pick-up bag dispensers are inexpensive and hook right onto the handle of your leash. You'll never be caught empty handed again! Our green poop bag dispensers come with a roll of biodegradable bags and we offer a box of 8 rolls or 120 biodegradable pickup bags for easy refills.

Lastly, I find when my dog looks good, I feel good! While some people collect shoes, ties or purses, my fetish is stylish U.S. made dog collars! There are so many great designs and they're easy to wash, so it's hard to just have one. Plus there are great matching U.S. made dog leashes to complete our walk look. (It's fun to work in a pet boutique!) Either way, make sure you have a reliable collar and leash for your dog walks. Plus it's safe to say dog collars should all have ID tags attached in case your dog unexpectedly separates from you.

So now that you have the basic dog walk necessities, it's time to get our there and enjoy some time with your dog. They live for it and don't ask for much! I always find that even if I don't feel like going for a walk, I ALWAYS feel better after our dog walks. I can guarantee your dog does too! Thanks for sharing your life with a furry one.
