Making a difference

With the goal to make a difference, just about every event Paws pet boutique hosts or participates in has a purpose to give back.

Since 1999, we are proud to have raised and contributed thousands of dollars to a variety of different pet causes, including Animal Legal Defense Fund, Anne Arundel County SPCA, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Animal Resource Foundation, Cats R Us, Tails of Hope, Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland, Fidos for Freedom, Humane Society/SPCA of Prince Frederick County, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Emergency Guide Dog Fund, Lab Rescue, Partnership for Animal Welfare, Northern Chesapeake Sheltie Rescue, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, Quiet Waters Park, Friends of Kent Island Dog Park, Westie Rescue, and Golden Retriever Rescue Education and Training (GRREAT). Many of these events include pets for adoption. We are always excited to find a forever home for a dog or cat.

In 2011 over $20,000 was raised from our 5th Ben's Cruise for Compassion to benefit Animal Legal Defense Fund. Local business, The Squires Group, saw how ALDF works to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals and matched the $10,000 raised to make a more significant contribution to these efforts. We are so grateful for their generosity.

You make the difference! By joining us in our efforts, animal welfare groups can continue their work on behalf of animals. Thank you! dogparkribboncutting.jpg

Lastly, our involvement with the creation of the first off-leash dog park in the county was one of our most satisfying efforts. With the help of a good group of organized dog-lovers, we petitioned, proposed and worked closely with the wonderful folks at Country Parks and Recreation Department to create Quiet Waters Dog Park and Beach (only 10 minutes away from Paws pet boutique). We raised $12,000 to pay for the benches and other amenities to give the park a "four-paws up" start. Paws pet boutique sponsored the bench that looks into this wonderful park, where four-legged friends have the time of their lives. Fortunately our County Executive at the time supported this first dog park and pushed to create several more in Anne Arundel County. It makes for a wonderful place to visit and live.

Our work to improve the lives of as many people and pets as possible through our store and outreach continues. Join us in making a tail wag; it always seems to make a difference.
