Seeing Stars with a Cause at Paws pet boutique in Annapolis

22nd Aug 2012

Over the years our quaint little white cottage location in Annapolis has seen some stars. Did you know for a day Sarah Jessica Parker filmed a scene for the movie "Failure to Launch", which had the town all a buzz? I must say, she appeared to be a genuinely good person and very down to earth after all her success with "Sex in the City". It was fun to watch the filming of a movie up close and we were happy to send Sarah Jessica back home to New York with some pick-up bags for her city walks with her older dog. A couple months ago they were filming a movie in the storefront a couple down from Paws pet boutique and stars were spotted including Jane Fonda. We watched these stars from a far, but it made for a fun change in our normal routine.  Earlier in the summer Guy Fieri was around the corner filming "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" at one of my favorite pubs, Galway Bay, and at another Annapolis hang-out Davis' Pub. Who would think little Annapolis would have shows and movies being filmed in our little seaside town known for sailing and of course good dogs!?

We had the tremendous good fortune to work with Dick of The Smothers Brothers earlier this month to start a raffle for his unique Cruisin' Bike. We love that he wants to use his good fortune in life to give back. We put his bike on display in our window at Paws pet boutique and he flew up to Maryland to kick-off the raffle ticket sales for his bike on August 9, 2012. He could not have been a better host that night as he met and chatted with guests and patiently smiled to have his photo taken with people and dogs! What a magnificent conversationalist. The best part is that we sold over $1,000 in raffle tickets with all the proceeds going to the animal welfare group, Animal Legal Defense Fund, that rescued our Jack Russell Ben!

By the way, do you like Ben's Benefit shirts? They're only $25 each all proceeds go to ALDF to help other animals like Ben.

So the stars were really aligned for us as our friend obtained VIP tickets to a live performance show of 'Dancing with the Stars' in season 15! Once again we created a raffle ($20/ raffle ticket) in which a lucky winner will be drawn September 30, 2012 for these VIP tickets. All the proceeds will be donated to ALDF as well. (tickets may not be sold or transfered or they will become invalid)

Bottomline, stars can make all the difference in helping to bring awareness and funds to important causes. When all is said and done, we hope to have raised $10,000 for Animal Legal Defense Fund with a generous IT Staffing Company, The Squires Group, matching donations up to $10,000. Just think what a difference this will make!

We recommend that you count your lucky stars and make a tail wag today!
