Stop in and pick up a postcard at Paws pet boutique with event dates & details.
Paws pet boutique hosts these dog-friendly Fridays on the Weather Rail
covered patio at Loews Annapolis Hotel, 126 West Street.
Join us from 5:30-7:30 PM and stay later if you wish!
Each of the evenings a Raffle is held by the Cause with all proceeds donated to them, as well as
a portion of the food & drink sales. Although cats would not enjoy these events, rest assured
many of these causes support cat welfare. Big thanks to Loews, who loves pets!
September 24, Canine Fall Fashion Show
Paws pet boutique's newest Fall Fashions will be modeled on the cat-walk by furry friends. Our featured cause this evening is dear
to many who have lost a loved one to cancer. Pam Townsend is helping to coordinate this evening to honor Samba, her
black dog who passed away this year from cancer. Samba graced the cover of Pam's book "Black is Beautiful" in an effort to
bring attention to black dogs, who tend to be the last adopted - if they are lucky. Proceeds from Pam's book are donated to
SPCA of P.G. County Humane Society.
Tonight's Raffle and a portion of the drink /food sales will be donated to the National
Canine Cancer Foundation's lymphoma grant. To help celebrate dogs lost to cancer, we are asking for their photos (along with their names)
to be forwarded to us so Pam can put together a slide presentation that evening of the Dogs We've Loved. Email photos to:
Special thanks to Cabot Cheese for donating cheeses and a raffle prize
to all our Canines & Cocktails for a Cause evenings!

Cause: SPCA of Anne Arundel County
Three wonderful SPCA dogs joined us including Max the Puggle pup (below left), Daisy the Lab mix (shown between
her new Boxer friends) and Scooter the Chocolate Cocker Spaniel (not shown). Thanks for such a great turnout!
It was great to see many of you with dogs who had been adopted from the SPCA.
Over $500 was raised from the Raffle for SPCA and several
people went home with some great prizes.
In additon to the Raffle prizes, we also awarded our Annapolis in
Love prizes.
"Why do you & your dog love coming downtown Annapolis?"
As part of downtown's weekend celebration "Annapolis in Love",
we started our 'Canines & Cocktails for a Cause' Friday night series with our
'Love your Dog in Annapolis' Contest that involved answering the above
question.
Winners announced during the event include...
Andrew Lee who attended with his Mom and dog Murphy Brown read his heartfelt
answer which concluded with "There were dogs everywhere for Murphy to meet. She
even went on the playground with me down by the water. We had such a great
time and learned that dogs are VERY welcome in Annapolis." Andrew was our
Grand Prize winner and will enjoy Overnight Accommodations
with dinner & breakfast for 2 courtesy of Loews Annapolis Hotel.
Erynne and her dog Phoebe took home a bag of goodies from Paws pet boutique
as a runner-up for her list of reasons including marching in the 4th of July parade with
Phoebe and feeling dogs are welcomed with smiles, treats and affection when they bark
"hello". She ends with,"The overall attitude of Annapolis is more dog-friendly than
any other place we spend time in. Erynne enjoyed the night with Phoebe shown below left.
Jessica is shown below receiving kisses from dog fans after she was honored as a runner-up.
Her winning answer started "Liza and I love coming to Annapolis because you can't help but feel at home while you shop
and chat with other dog owners around this amazing historic town." Congrats to our winners and thanks for loving downtown
Annapolis with your dogs! Enjoy some other images below from this special evening.
To finish off the Annapolis in Love weekend, on Sunday,
April 18 at 3 PM in the store,
Paws pet boutique also awarded prizes (including a framed
'Give Love, Get Love' print) for the best answers to the following question:
"What love lesson have your learned from your cat or dog"
Thanks to all who sent in such heart-warming responses!
Did you miss May 21... Canine Iron Chef Demonstration?
Loews chefs served up some fine foods for the canines, while humans enjoyed a Black Lab Vodka drink, chatting &
the raffle. We had an anonymous donor put up the challenge that if $1,000 could be raised from the Raffle, they would
match $1,000. Needless to say we rallied and raised over $1,000 making the donation to Lab Rescue over $2,000!
Great prizes from the Raffle were awarded including Black Lab Vodka, Canine Fitness Swim certificate, hand-painted
Lab platter (also at Paws pet boutique!), Lab coasters & Lab box. Hope to see you at the next one.
Fun was had on June 18...Dad/Dog Look-Alike Contest
The Orioles Fan duo, James and Abby, won the Dog-Dad Look-Alike Contest and will enjoy an
overnight stay compliments of the Loews Annapolis Hotel. All contestants went home with a prize and
many others took home wonderful Raffle Prizes thanks to the efforts of the group Maryland Votes for Animals.
Over $600 was raised from the raffle! It was great to learn more about how they are working hard to make Maryland
a more animal-friendly state and Annapolis the most animal-friendly town in America!
You may want to consider getting involved.
Did you miss July 23...Best Dog Tricks?
Basil, a beautiful, medium size dog of mixed origin, opened the stage with a "sit" demonstation. Basil is one of the dogs
with P.A.W. seeking a new home. Michele and Kona took home the winning prize with a "push-up" trick. You had to be there!
Thanks to all who joined us we raised $795 from the raffles. Michael P. went home with a 2-night stay on St. Pete Beach at the Trade Winds, while many others went home with great goodies. Ahhh, it was a hot, but very nice evening. Hope you can join us for the next one.
August 20 we enjoyed our Ice Cream Social
Loews Hotel put together fabulous Raffle Prizes and raised $850 for DonorsChoose. From spa packages and fine wines to digital cameras and an overnight at Loews Hotel, the prizes were amazing! Dogs enjoyed canine "ice cream" and some participated in the Ice Cream Eating Contest, with the Beagle, Suzy, winning once again. It was a perfect summer night.
Special thanks to Andy Yaros for sharing some of the photos from the evening.
